Tuition & Other Fees

A. Admission Fees

A non-refundable AED 300 admission fee will be imposed when the applicant submits his/her application form for Admission. This fee also applies for students who are being re-admitted. In addition, applicants pay a non-refundable fee of AED 100 for the student ID card.

B. Placement Exam Fees

Applicants must pay a non-refundable AED 250 for each of the Math and English Placement Exams. Applicants with valid SAT scores will not have to take the Math Placement exam and thus do not have to pay the fee. Applicants with valid TOEFL scores (or its equivalent) will not have to take the English Placement Exam and thus do not have to pay the fee.

C. SAT and TOEFL On-Campus Fees

Students who take the Intensive Math will not pay any fees for the SAT final exam unless they want to retake it due to failure in the first attempt. All other students who will take the SAT separately will have to pay the fees amounting to AED 250.

Similarly, students registering for the Intensive English Level 3 course will not pay any fee for the TOEFL exam unless they want to retake it due to failure in the first attempt. All other students who will take the TOEFL separately will have to pay the fees amounting to AED 350.

D. Tuition Fees

At the beginning of each semester/term, students must contact the Accounting Department to arrange the payment of their fees. Students who do not pay the tuition fees within 36 hours of receiving the advising will lose all temporarily registered courses.

The current fees per credit (C.H.) for all Bachelor's degree programs are as follows for regular courses:

  • AED 960 per (C.H.) for citizens of the UAE and all GCC countries (or AED 2,880 for a 3 C.H. course);
  • AED 1,100 per (C.H.) for students of other nationalities (or AED 3,300 for a 3 C.H. course);
  • AED 1,200 per (C.H.) for Visiting (Short Course) students (or AED 3,600 for a 3 C.H. course);
  • The fees for the two-month regular internship will be double the regular course fee.

 

The current fees for Intensive/ Remedial courses are:

  • Intensive English: AED 625 per Contact Hour; (or 7,500 for 12 contact hours per week; For Intensive English III, students pay an additional AED 350 non-refundable fee for TOEFL final exam).
  • Intensive Pre-Math: AED 625 per Contact Hour; (or AED 3,750 for 6 contact hours per week; students pay an additional AED250 non-refundable fee for SAT final exam).

E. Registration Fees

A non-refundable AED 500 registration fee will be imposed for each regular semester and AED 250 during each short term. This fee applies also to visiting students. An additional late registration fee of AED 250 per course will be charged to continuing students who fail to register during the regular registration time as announced in the calendar. This additional fee does not apply to added courses (replaced during drop & add period or just added to complete registration) during the drop & add period.

F. Student Activities Fees

A non-refundable AED 100 Student Activities fee will be imposed for each regular semester and AED 50 during each short term. This fee applies also to visiting students.

G. Discount Policy

UD has established the following discount structure:

  • Governmental departments: discount of 10% for students working in the government sector (students must provide an official letter from his/her employer each regular semester + work/employment ID for the short terms);
  • Brothers / sisters: discount of 10% for two active students or more who are brothers/sisters;
  • Husband and wife: discount of 10% for two active students who are husband and wife;
  • All UD and DC staff members, sons, daughters or spouses will receive 15% discount (subject to UD and DC Management approval). The conditions are:
    • Employee must have a minimum of one year of service.
    • Availability of place on the course.
    • No impact on the productivity and quality of the employee's work.
    • Written commitment required from the employee to serve UD/DC (for a period specified listed below) after completion of the course or else return the entire discounted amount.

Note:

  1. Supporting documents must be provided in order to be granted any of the above discounts.
  2. Only one discount is allowed per student.
  3. Any exceptions or denials are left up to the discretion of the UD president.

H. Installment/Deferred Payments Policy

A non-refundable AED 100 fee will be imposed on each installment/postdated check/promissory note. The maximum number of installments is four during Fall & Spring semesters and two during Winter & Summer terms. At the time of registration students are required pay for at least one course and all applicable registration and activity fees by cash, current dated check or credit card. Any balance remaining must be paid by a maximum of three installments in the form of postdated checks. It should be noted that the last date of the final installment should be two weeks before the final exam for Fall & Spring semesters and one week before the Winter and Summer terms.

Cash, checks, promissory note, or credit cards, are accepted as payment. Please note that fees mentioned above are subject to change at any time.

I. Refund Policy

Our refund policy is as follows:

  • Students are refunded 100% of the tuition fees paid if they withdraw during the first week.
  • Students are refunded 50% of the tuition fees paid if they withdraw during the second week.
  • Students withdrawing after the second week are not entitled to any refunds.
  • Non-tuition fees are not refundable.
  • Tuition fees as well as other fees paid for short Winter and Summer terms are not refundable once paid as stated in the registration form and signed by the student.
  • Tuition fees might be refunded if there is sufficient evidence that the withdrawal is due to health reasons and the case is supported by proper documentation. This exception is subject to the approval of the President.
  • Students receiving FA grade in IE level 3 or Remedial Math may not take the UD administered ITP TOEFL/SAT exam and will receive refund for the prepaid exam fee.

J. Bounced Checks Policy

UD charges AED 500 for a returned check. No checks will be accepted from any student whose checks are returned twice. In this case, only cash and/or credit card payment is acceptable. Students with unpaid outstanding balances will be placed on registration hold and may not access any of their records.

K. Bus Services

Students shall pay a non-refundable semester fee of AED 2,750 and complete the transportation service application to use this service. The fees will be collected in advance and no refund will be allowed in case of partial withdrawal from the service. 
To enable students to commute from Sharjah to the campus in Deira, UD will provide a transportation service 6 days a week, excluding Friday. The bus route includes pick-up/drop-off points throughout Sharjah as per the bus schedule. The transportation service is provided based on the following criteria:

  1. The service will be offered only if a minimum of 10 students sign up for a particular destination;
  2. Students living in areas requiring Salik will have to pay all the additional fees as needed;
  3. If less than 10 students sign up for a particular route, additional fees are applicable for students who still want to use the service.
