Master of Laws
- Our LLM Program consists of 9 courses + 1 Thesis :
- 5 Core Courses
- 4 Major
- 1 Thesis
- All classes are held three times a week from 6 PM – 9 PM
- Student may complete the program within 12 months during 3 terms.
- The duration of each term is 4 months.
*Declaration: The LLM degree is a non-professional qualification.

Regular Admission Criteria
- All students must have a valid English Proficiency Score IELTS 6, TOFEL 550 & Emsat 1400.
- Completion of a recognized baccalaureate degree in a discipline appropriate for the LLM degree. A Higher Diploma is not equivalent to a baccalaureate degree and does not qualify an applicant for admission to the LLM program.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or its established equivalent.
Students who have no bachelor in law admitted to the LLM program are required to demonstrate the potential for sustainable success in their selected graduate program. In addition to the regular admission process for admission to the LLM program, candidates must:
- Have at least 1-3 years of any relevant legal work experience in private or public sector organizations
- Provide two satisfactory reference letters from academicians or employers.
- State professional plans and career objective as required in the application form
Attend an interview with the LLM Program Director to evaluate his or her suitability for the LLM Program. The candidate will be advised on the outcome of his or her application within seven days of the application deadline. Once the decision for eligibility has been made, the LLM Program Director transfers the file of the admitted candidate to the UD Admissions & Registration Department, to register in the Pre-LLM (preparatory) courses.
Pre-LLM
Non-law graduates will be required now to undertake three Pre-LLM courses to meet the normal requirement for a student to have a bachelor’s degree in law before entry to an LLM program. The pre-LLM courses are completely redesigned so that they would provide non-law degree holders with the needed knowledge and law background to join the LLM program. The students are required to attended 45 contacts hours and pass the courses the courses with no less than 3 out of 4 CGPA. The Pre-LLM courses are the following:
- Introduction to Law
- Business Law
- Criminal Law
An applicant must provide the following documents for admission:
- Four recent passport-size photographs (colored with white background)
- Valid passport copy
- Unified and Ethbara number for UAE Nationals
- Valid visa copy for non UAE nationals
- Valid emirates ID copy
- Copy of Family book for UAE Nationals
- Attested Original Bachelor’s transcript
- Attested Original Certificate of Graduation
- Mother’s passport copy
- Valid original certificate of IELTS or TOFEL or EMSAT with minimum required score
- 1,800 AED enrollment non-refundable fees (Admission/ID Card/Technology Fees)
Transfer students must also submit original transcripts from the university/college they are transferring from. In addition, transfer students must submit the course syllabus and course description for each course they seek to transfer for credit. Transfer students into a Master’s Program must have received at least a “B” or equivalent for any course they wish to transfer. Students will be informed of the course(s) eligible for transfer within 48 hours by the Graduate Programs Office.

A. Visiting Students
- Students must have passed all prerequisites for required subjects (original transcripts from the university in which the student is currently studying are to be provided).
- Students must provide a copy of their passport and four recent photos (JPEG format file).
- Students must fully adhere to UD regulations and rules, including attendance.
- Visiting students are not allowed to register for more than 18 credit hours and are only allowed to register for a total of two consecutive terms.
- A visiting student can be accepted as a regular student, provided he/she has complied with all UD admission requirements.
- A visiting student may register at any time during the registration period.
B. Auditors
- Students must have passed all prerequisites for required subjects (original transcripts from the university in which the student is currently studying are to be provided).
- Students must provide a copy of their passport and four recent photos (JPEG format file).
- Students must fully adhere to UD regulations and rules, including attendance.
- Visiting students are not allowed to register for more than 18 credit hours and are only allowed to register for a total of two consecutive terms.
- A visiting student can be accepted as a regular student, provided he/she has complied with all UD admission requirements.
- A visiting student may register at any time during the registration period.
The applicant may apply for student visa only after getting admitted to the program and enroll as a full time student.
Student Visa is valid only for one year.
A student visa permits the student to work only as a part time after getting the needful approvals from the concerned authorities.
The approval or rejection of the visa is with General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs. The visa process has no timing frame as it may take from two days to two months, so we strongly recommend to submit your documents at least 2 months before the start of the term.
The Graduate Programs Office accepts applications throughout the year for the LLM program.
