Years of history and education

The University of Dubai (UD) proudly stands as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI). Throughout UD’s journey, the DCCI has been an unwavering partner, providing essential support at every stage of the university’s growth, including its pursuit and achievement of international academic accreditations.

In alignment with Dubai Vision 2020 and in commitment to advancing educational development within the region, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, generously awarded UD a three-million-square-foot plot in Dubai’s Academic City in June 2006. This land, intended for UD’s new state-of-the-art campus, reflects His Highness’s vision for UD’s role in Dubai’s future. Following an international design competition, His Highness personally selected the design of the new campus, further underscoring his support and dedication to UD’s mission.

The DCCI also contributed 200 million dirhams (approximately USD 54 million) to facilitate the construction of this new campus, located just 20 kilometers from UD’s previous site. By December 2015, all operations had transitioned from the original campus on Maktoum Street to the vibrant new facilities in Academic City, marking a new chapter in UD’s commitment to excellence in education and community engagement.
