KHDA CEO Dr. Karam: We want people who want the job and not need the job   The Center for Executive Development (CED) at University of Dubai (UD) held yesterday its first Annual Forum at UD new campus in Academic City. †H.E. Dr. Abdullah Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), delivered a keynote speech at the event. Dr. Eesa Al Bastaki, UD President, welcomed the attendees who represented government entities and private companies. The event aims at highlighting the work and vision of CED and awarding CED business partners.   Nearly 100 business representatives, faculty members, and alumni showed their presence in the event.   Dr. Al Karam said that KHDA is committed to develop and modify human resources practices and make the work environment healthier and happier. He emphasized the scope of KHDA which aims at creating a high quality education sector entitled by happiness and wellbeing. ìHappiness leads to success and not success leads to happinessî, continued Dr. Al Karam. While discussing the significance of failure in achievement of success, Dr. Al karam clearly stated: ìWe want people who want the job and not need the jobî.   Our aim is to achieve life-long learning for our students that surpasses the borders of UD, remarked Dr. Al Bastaki. A notable part of his speech was devoted to the subjects of positivity and happiness in workplace, and quality education. ìWe are licensed to lead and mangeî, said Dr. Al Bastaki asserting the uniqueness of UD in the region. He concluded: ìour mission is to establish an educational hub that attracts universal studentsî.     In her speech, Dr. Vidya Nandagopal, Director of CED, shared with the audience the main perspectives of Dubai followed by the mission, vision, and future strategic plans of CED to be fulfilled between2016-2021. Economic sustainability, harnessing full potential of human capital, creating one common culture, traveling across to train artisans, providing life-long learning, and increasing partnerships are some of CEDís essential goals that were also brought to light by Dr. Nandagopal.   During the event, the awards were granted to Dubai Chamber, DEWA, Dubai Customs, Citigroup, KHDA, Dubai Land, DED, RetailPro, CIPS, Uum AL Moumineen Organization, Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, MidEast, Al Bayan, Al Khaleej, Emarat Al Yawm, Sama Dubai, Dhafra TV.   An outstanding student was awarded for her work in the area of ROI using Dr. Jack Philips methodology.
