Overview
Dr. Rida Gadhafi (S’10, M’13’, SM’20) received her PhD in Optics and Radio Frequency from Universit ́e Grenoble Alpes, France in 2013. She later held a postdoctoral position at Technische Universität Dresden, Germany. Currently, she serves as an assistant professor at the College of Engineering and IT (CEIT) at the University of Dubai. Before joining the University of Dubai, she worked as a research scientist at Khalifa University, Masdar City Campus, Abu Dhabi, starting in March 2015. She led a university-funded project on lunar communication in collaboration with the Emirates Lunar Mission team at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center. Her primary research interests include RF communication, particularly lunar communication, the design of passive antennas and filters, chipless Radio Frequency Identification tags, and on-chip antennas. She is also involved in interdisciplinary research, focusing on areas like using AI to accelerate antenna or filter design and applying memristors in microwave filters. Dr. Rida has published several papers in international journals and conferences. In 2023, she was honored with the Teaching Excellence Award from the University of Dubai. Additionally, she received IEEE Best Student Paper Awards in 2011 and 2012 and was awarded the IEEE MTT-S Student Sponsorship from the International Microwave Symposium in Canada in 2012. She is a senior member of IEEE and currently serves as vice-chair of the IEEE MTT/AP/IMS UAE chapter.
