Overview
Mohammed Q. Alkhatib's academic journey began with his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Telecommunications Engineering, which he earned from Yarmouk University in 2008. He continued his education by obtaining both his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso, El Paso, TX, USA, in 2011 and 2018, respectively.
Dr. Alkhatib's primary research focus centers on remote sensing, with a particular emphasis on hyperspectral imagery. His work has been disseminated through presentations and publications in renowned international forums, including the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI), the IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing (IEEE-JSTARS), the Proceedings of the IEEE Workshop on Hyperspectral Image and Signal Processing: Evolution in Remote Sensing (WHISPERS), the Proceedings of the IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), and the Proceedings of the IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP). These contributions underscore his commitment to advancing our understanding and capabilities in the field of remote sensing through rigorous research and academic engagement.
Throughout his graduate studies, Alkhatib held roles as both a teaching assistant and research assistant within the engineering college. In these capacities, he not only conducted vital research for his thesis but also imparted knowledge by teaching various labs in Signal Processing, digital design, and microprocessors. His dedication to both teaching and research was evident during this period. From 2014 to 2020, he served as a lecturer at Abu Dhabi Polytechnic in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Presently, he assumes the role of Assistant Professor at the College of Engineering and IT within the University of Dubai, Dubai, UAE. His current research pursuits encompass the dynamic fields of remote sensing and machine learning.
