Dr. Ghulam Amjad Hussain

Dr. Ghulam Amjad Hussain has joined us as an Associate Professor in the CEIT. Dr. Ghulam served as an Associate Professor and Assistant Dean at the American University of Kuwait from Sep 2017 until January 2024. He received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the Aalto University, School of Electrical Engineering (previously known as Helsinki University of Technology), Finland in 2016 and MS in electrical engineering from the same university in 2012. He received BE in electrical engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Lahore, Pakistan respectively. He served as a senior R&D engineer at the Eaton Corporation (Corporate Research & Technology division), and a project engineer at the Al-Ahleia Switchgear Co. Kuwait. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE), member of the Kuwait Society of Engineers (KSE), and Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC). Dr. Hussain has authored/co-authored more than 70 articles in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. He led various research projects as a principal investigator while collaborating with researchers globally. In addition to chairing and serving in numerous college and university committees, Dr. Hussain has been serving as a guest editor for Energies (MDPI) journal and reviewer of various international journals and conferences. His research interests span the areas of power system, high voltage engineering, electrical machines and drives, power system faults and transient analysis.
