Application & Admission Requirements

Eligibility conditions for admission into the first year of UD PhD Program:

  1. Hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) from an accredited university.
  2. Have a GPA of 3.0 or more out of 4.0 in the Master's degree;
  3. Have at least 3 years of managerial or teaching experience;
  4. Satisfy the English language entry requirement:
  5. TOEFL 550 (paper-based), or TOEFL 79 (internet- based) or IELTS 6.0;
  6. Candidates must provide the following for application process:
  7. Complete the application form
    Provide 2 satisfactory reference letters;
  8. Provide a certified copy of the last 2 degrees (Bachelor and Master's degree);
  9. Provide an updated CV;
  10. Submit a Research Proposal (please strictly follow the guidelines as in item 4);
  11. Attend an interview with the PhD Program Committee;
  12. Pay application fees AED 3,000 (non-refundable).

Research Proposal Submission:

Writing a Research Proposal is a crucial step. This is the first critical move in joining the applied research community. Therefore, the content should include the following elements in a separate sheet in the same order:

  1. Formulate a managerial problem.
  2. Justify why the research topic is important from a managerial point of view.
  3. Identify clear research questions, that are of a scope suitable for doctoral research in business administration.
  4. Position your research within a body of existing academic literature (i.e. Strategic Management, Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Information System Management, etc..), Identify gaps and use the literature to justify the need for further research.
  5. Take an aptitude test to assess the knowledge level of PhD candidates covering research process: including problem identification, hypothesis testing, basic statistics and probability concepts.
  6. Suggest a consistent methodology, including methods for data collection and analysis.
  7. Explain the potential impacts of your research both from a managerial and academic standpoint.
  8. Format: No more than 5 pages typed; Font size 12; Font type Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing.

    • Each term student registers for 2 courses and pay the fee in advance of the start of the classes.

I agree to be bound by all the rules, regulation & policies of the University.
