Job Title: Research Assistant in Law and Policy

Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Duration: 1-year contract, starting March 2024

Description: The College of Law invites applications for the position of Research Assistant in Law Policies and Technology. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in law and technology within a dynamic academic environment. The successful candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on projects aimed at advancing the field of law and technology, with a particular focus on transportation innovations such as flying taxis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on law and policy dimensions associated with transportation, particularly in the context of emerging technologies like flying taxis.
  • Analyze regulatory frameworks and international conventions relevant to the deployment of flying taxis.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop innovative solutions to legal and policy challenges in the transportation sector.
  • Contribute to the preparation of research reports, academic publications, and presentations.
  • Engage with stakeholders from academia, government, and industry to disseminate research findings and promote dialogue on legal and policy issues.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or PhD in Law from a reputable university.
  • Prior research experience, evidenced by publications in international conferences or journals, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent command of the English language, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Background in transportation engineering, urban planning, or related fields is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with the potential impact of flying taxis on transportation systems, traffic congestion, and environmental sustainability is an advantage.

Job Advertisement: Assistant Professor in Law - UAE/UK LLB Program

The University of Dubai invites applications for a casual teaching position in law, offering an exciting opportunity to be a part of our new dual degree UAE/UK LLB Program. We are looking for someone with legal expertise and experience teaching in a civil law jurisdiction in order to teach UAE law courses in the areas of UAE Criminal Law and Administrative Law. Our innovative teaching approach is conducted exclusively in English. These courses will be taught intensively over the Summer teaching period. The role will commence 27 May 2024 and end on 13 July 2024.

Students will graduate with a dual qualification – a UAE law degree and a prestigious UK law degree from the University of London. Job Requirements:

  • Hold a PhD Degree in law.
  • The candidate must already be a resident in the UAE and have a valid work visa. The University of Dubai will not provide any sponsorship for this position.
  • Possess a minimum of one year of teaching experience at a reputable institution.
  • Be a graduate of a reputable university.
  • Demonstrate mastery of the English language for effective instruction. Proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
  • Exhibit advanced use of educational technology, including e-learning systems and presentations.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver courses within the discipline, aligned with the University’s fundamental standards of Teaching.
  • Offer instruction at various levels within the UAE/UK LLB Program.
  • Monitor and assess individual student progress, providing feedback to ensure student success.
  • Continuously seek innovative methods to achieve course objectives.

Position Title:         Administrator, Student Recruitment Department:            Marketing Department Reports To:             Manager, Marketing, Communications, & Student Recruitment Position Summary: The Administrator, Student Recruitment supports the Recruitment Head in all administrative tasks relevant to the responsibilities below, and liaises with other team members to facilitate timely and efficient flow of projects assigned. Prepares all materials requested for the job, ensures accurate and prompt data entry, and submits reports periodically.  Major Responsibilities: 1 School visits
  • Prepares list of schools to be visited.
  • Defines the person in charge in each school.
  • Sends UD proposal by email or fax to the schools.
  • Follows up to set an appointment for UD presentation.
  • Arranges all presentation requirements (brochures, gifts, inquiry sheets, laptop and presentation).
  • Enters all inquiry sheets data on excel sheets.
  • Follows up directly after high schools results.
2 Inviting schools to visit UD:
  • Prepares list of schools to be invited to visit UD.
  • Sends invitation proposals by email of fax.
  • Plans the visit program and sends copies to all participants.
  • Follows up with the person in charge to set a date for the visit.
  • Books venue to welcome students.
  • Arrange all requirements (brochures, student’s gifts, breakfast)
  • Arranges for IT support.
  • Coordinates with participating faculty members.
  • Arranges for on-campus tours.
  • Arranges for photographers.
  • Enters data of students’ details.
  • Arranges to send applications and brochures for schools we failed to visit.
3 Follow ups:
  • Collects all data from school visits, phones inquiries and exhibitions in Excel Sheet.
  • Arranges phone numbers and email addresses in notepads.
  • Keeps in touch by sending SMS’s and emails regularly.
  • Follows up regularly on phone inquiries.
  • Prepares summer follow up plan.
  • Calls up grade 12 students after high school results
  • Files all related forms.
  • Assists in arranging recruitment plans (organizations – consulates).
  • Updates official letters to be send to organizations and consulates.
  • Updates Collaboration Agreements as requested by supervisor.
  • Provides competitive analysis for other universities when requested.
  • Prepares forms: Purchase Requisitions, Design Brief, and Marketing items’ request.
  • Submits Reports on School visits schedules, Schools visiting UD schedules, and follow up reports.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree preferably with a specialization in Business or Marketing
  • 2-3 years of recruitment experience
  • Proven knowledge of best practices in telephone screening and interviewing
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Experience using applicant tracking technology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office

The Administrator - Developer

  • Assist in developing, maintaining, and supporting the university student information system, learning management system and web applications bring new innovative ideas to the university IT department.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Administration of CAMS SIS and Moodle LMS, ensuring system reliability, availability, and optimal performance.
  • Manage and optimize the University's online payment gateway for efficient and secure financial transactions
  • Customization and Upgrades system for both the CAMS SIS and Moodle LMS, ensuring smooth operation and improvements.
  • Coordinate the integration of the CAMS SIS with other university systems, such as HR and finance, to ensure seamless data flow and consistency across platforms.
  • Determining all custom coding requirements for the site creation using Microsoft .NET, .NET Core MVC, PHP & Microsoft and MySQL Server database.
  • Develop and maintain WordPress website Content Management and Plugin Management and Customization.
  •  Building web-based reporting tools using best reporting tools through a web portal or application.

  • Three years’ experience in is Experience in a Website/Web-Apps development.
  • Proficiency in English.

  • Ability to operate effectively and professionally under pressure.
  • Ability to collaborate and improve the quality of IT processes, services and products.
  • Previous experience in education sector with CAMS SIS and LMS systems with IT Database management technical skills.
