Dubai, November 6, 2014: Dr. Eesa M. Al Bastaki, President of University of Dubai, visited the first batch of the universityís Ph.D. students at their study center in Dubai Chamber, and urged them to work further to strengthen the position of Dubai and the UAE in the fields of research and studies. The visit came within the framework of the keenness of the senior management of the University to provide adequate support to postgraduate students, and encourage them to become active participants in the development process in the country. During the visit, Dr. Al Bastaki pointed out that the UAE has taken the initiative to support scientific and technical research and studies related to business management and entrepreneurship. He also highlighted the emphasis given by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and the University on the Ph.D. program as part of their national mission. The university is working alongside a number of research centers in the UAE to encourage scientific research and provide an opportunity for researchers to publish their academic studies, Dr. Al Bastaki said. ìA large number of Ph.D. students will soon join the University for their Business Management Studies, and contribute with students at other universities to enriching scientific research in areas such as economics, law, security applications and technology,î Dr. Al Bastaki added. Commenting on the visit, Nasser Al Muraqab, Ph.D. student, said: ìThe highly distinctive academic atmosphere of the Ph.D. program at the University of Dubai instills in every student a responsibility to the nation in addition to his or her responsibility as a student graduate.î He added that the students felt their research and studies would enhance the position of Dubai and the UAE at the international level in the field of business administration. Suhail Al Bastaki, who is also a Ph.D. student, pointed that the superiority of civilization is closely linked to the students of science and their academic level. ìWe feel that the universityís keen interest in Ph.D. students is part of its mission to unleash the potential of scientific innovation and competitiveness, and open the way for academic advancement.î Mary Marzouki, another Ph.D student, urged all those interested in research studies to enhance the reputation of the UAE in scientific and academic fields by supporting national universities and their students. The publication of strategic studies and research will serve the people of the UAE at the cultural and even scientific level”, Marzouki added. The University of Dubai has recorded a range of distinctive achievements in the recent period, most importantly attracting a large number of students in the Ph.D. program. Additionally,†the university has received accreditation from the British Institute of Management and Leadership to offer certifications to graduates with a bachelors degree in human resource management and masters degree in leadership and human resources management. The University of Dubai is the first university in the Arab world and outside Britain to offer this type of certification.
