Overview
Dr. Dawoud is a alumnus of the University of Surrey, holding a Ph.D. degree. Her current research pursuits primarily revolve around the intricate aspects of optical communication systems’ physical layer, digital signal processing for communications, Security systems and the development of Internet of Things (IoT) systems. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, which she successfully com- pleted at the University of Jordan (UJ) in Amman, Jordan. Subsequently, she assumed the role of Laboratory Engineer within the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at the Applied Science University, Amman, Jordan. During this period, she commenced her pursuit of a Master’s degree at the Uni- versity of Jordan, furthering her academic path. Dr. Dawoud’s academic journey reached its peak when she began her doctoral studies at the renowned Institute for Communication Systems (ICS) within the University of Surrey, Guildford, United Kingdom. Before commencing her doctoral studies, she dedicated four years to teaching at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Currently, Dr. Dawoud holds the position of Assistant Professor at the University of Dubai. She is also an active member of several prestigious professional organizations, including the Institute of Electrical and Elec- tronics Engineers (IEEE), IEEE Women in Engineering, IEEE Women in Communication Engineering, and the Jordanian Engineers Association. Furthermore, her innovative work in the field has earned her a U.S. patent for her contributions to optical communication systems, which can be accessed here . In addition to her patent, she has authored and co-authored numerous research papers featured in internationally renowned journals and conferences, such as IEEE Transactions on Communication, showcasing her dedication and con- tributions to the advancement of her field.
