- Seminar on sidelines of event highlights key employment trends in UAE
Dubai, May 19th, 2015: University of Dubai organized its annual ëJob Fair 2015í at Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), with the participation of more than 27 local and international companies from the public and private sectors. A seminar, organized on the sidelines of the event with speakers from Emaar, LinkedIn and Bayt.com, highlighted the major current employment trends in the UAE. In his speech during the opening ceremony of the Job Fair, Dr. Eesa M. Al Bastaki, President of the University of Dubai pointed out that the UAE has focused on human investment considering it as the most important investment. He stressed the UAEís plans to establish the smartest cities in the world require investment in human resources to achieve sustainable development of the country and provide a better life for future generations. Dr. Al Bastaki said the UAEís investment in the human being serves as a model for developed countries in the world. The UAE has offered advanced centers in several areas, having prioritized the development of the younger generation by encouraging them to adopt innovation and excellence in all areas, Dr. Al Bastaki said. Speaking at the seminar on the occasion, Ahmed Salem Al Ali, Director of Training at Emaar Hospitality, highlighted the efforts taken by Emaar Hospitality to raise the Emiratisation levels in the hospitality industry, and the challenges it faces in this process. Al Ali pointed out that hospitality is still a relatively new area for UAE nationals. He explained that Emaar Hospitality has launched a new six-month training programme for graduates, allowing them to gain experience in various departments and get employed in the company. The seminar was moderated by Hikmat Beaini, Communications Manager at University of Dubai. Addressing the seminar, Rajai Al Khadem, Director of Government Affairs at LinkedIn Middle East and North Africa, stressed the importance of professional communication at the global level and highlighted the role of LinkedIn in this area. Rania Naseer, Director of Professional Relations in the Bayt.com explained how sustained interaction is required by participants in online recruitment sites to gain full advantage of the jobs provided by these sites. Naseer also spoke on the basics of creating a perfect CV and communicating effectively in the Bayt.com site. The Job Fair witnessed the participation of government and private entities from several sectors, including roads, transport, airports, banks, media, hospitality, real estate, information technology, food and retail. The event also attracted large number of university students and graduates, who utilized the opportunity to communicate directly with human resources officials, and apply for positions in the participating companies and organizations.
