(UD) Dr. Eesa Al Bastaki held a meeting for UD staff and faculty members to announce the strategic plans for 2017-2022. During the meeting, Dr. Al Bastaki revealed the process of developing UDís overall structure, the new vision and mission and his plans toward making UD a world-class institution in education, research and innovation for the betterment and prosperity of the people in the region. He also highlighted the strategic vision for Dubai Business School to be ranked among the top 100 business schools worldwide by 2025; and UD to be ranked among top 100 universities before 2035. Dr. Nasser Al-Muraqeb Chief Operation Officer, Dr. Geoffrey Gachino Provost, Dr. Mohammad Osman Director of Graduate Studies, Mr. Hatim Khalid Director of General Undergraduate Curriculum Requirements (GUCR) program, Prof. Ananth Rao Dean of Dubai Business School, Prof. Wathiq Mansoor Chair of Electrical Engineering program, Mr. Hikmat Beaini Director of Public Relations and Communications gave detailed presentations on the three strategic pillars of the new vision, including: Building a new formulation for the current, newly-established, and future academic programs. Dr. Al Bastaki said that realizing UDís vision will require us to serve the educational needs of diverse undergraduates, postgraduates and professionals, produce high caliber graduates, provide education based on international standards, provide a stimulating educational environment to prepare future leaders, as well as engage faculty in pure and applied research focused mainly on the economic development of Middle East & Africa region. He added that the needs of all students must be provided and equipped with advanced technologies and equipment to help them to innovate and build smart devices and sustainable projects in line with the approach and vision of the state.
