Brigadier Eid Mohammed Thani Hareb, Director General of Anti-Narcotics Department at Dubai Police, confirmed that drug dealers are waging a war against people by targeting young generations with the most dangerous types of drugs. He pointed out that these ìcriminalsî are tampering with the security and betting on its deterioration to spread their poison in the market. This came during the ìAnti-Narcotics Awareness Campaignî which was organized by the Department of Student Services (DSS) at the University of Dubai (UD) and delivered by Brigadier Hareb in presence of representatives from Dubai Police in addition to UD President Dr. Eesa Al Bastaki, students, staff and faculty members. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Rafia Ghobash, a psychiatrist who previously served as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University. She also served as the President of the Arabian Gulf University in Bahrain. Among the new guests who contributed for the first time to anti-drug awareness campaigns was the robot “Amal” who participated in the lecture and welcomed the attendees at the University of Dubai. Brigadier Hareb stressed the importance of cooperation with parents and families to boost the confidence of young generations and encourage them to ìpositivelyî defend and motivate themselves against ìnegativeî environments and bad companionships that might destroy their lives and futures. Furthermore, he talked about the types of drugs as well as their negative effects and impacts on individuals, in particular, and the society, in general.
