University of Dubai Celebrates the Success of 84 Outstanding Students during the 2019/2020 Academic Year
The Department of Student Services at the University of Dubai (DSS- UD) held the Dean’s Honors Event through ZOOM platform to recognize the academic excellence of 84 outstanding students with cumulative GPA of 3.5 and above for the academic year 19-20.
UD President Dr. Eesa Al Bastaki reaffirmed the University’s keenness to appreciate the efforts of outstanding students who have excelled both at their studies and extracurricular activities and shown remarkable contributions to the well-being of UD’s community.
He also highlighted the University’s eagerness to create a distinctive, multidisciplinary and futuristic educational environment that is capable of providing governmental and private institutions with an elite of the best and most efficient generations who would aid the intellectual, scientific and technological renaissance of nations.
This came during the virtual ceremony which honored 30 students from the Dubai Business School and 54 students from the College of Engineering and Information Technology in the presence of President of the University Dr. Al Bastaki, Vice President for Administrative Affairs and COO Dr. Nasser Al-Murrqab, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Geoffrey Gachino, in addition to the deans of the faculties, members of the academic and administrative staff, and families of outstanding students.
In his final remarks, Dr. Al Bastaki asked students to maintain their excellence after their graduation to thrive in their careers. He also thanked the students’ families who have had the greatest impact on students’ notable performance at the University.
In his speech, Dr. Al-Murraqab said that “the University of Dubai is “virtually” honoring its distinguished students to spread happiness and positivity among the UD community and celebrate students’ accomplishments and achievements despite the distance limitations due to the exceptional circumstances caused by the Covid-19 virus.”
The ceremony was presented by two students, Mahaba Al Muhairi and Reem Al Jallaf. In addition, two other students delivered thank you speeches; Ruqayya Al-Saqqaf representing the outstanding students in the Dubai Business School and Maitha Ahmed representing the College of Engineering and Information Technology. In their speeches, they both extended their deepest gratitude to their families, teachers and administrative staff for their care, love, guidance, and exceptional efforts.
