University of Dubai Collects Nearly 3.3 Million Dirhams for Charity
Over the past years, the Alumni Relations Office at the University of Dubai (UD) has been able to collect nearly 3.3 million dirhams to help students overcome their financial challenges and pursue their university degrees through annual charity campaigns as part of the Scholarship Fund Program for Alumni and Friends of the University.
This year, the Alumni Relations Office is organizing the fifth Annual Charity Suhoor in cooperation with the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association and Beit Al Khair Society. The Suhoor aims to collect donations for students who are incapable of pursuing University studies due to financial struggles.
On this note, UD President Dr. Eesa Al Bastaki thanked Beit Al Khair Society and all charity organizations that have continuously supported UD’s charity agenda over the past years. He also extended his appreciation towards the University’s Alumni Relations Office for being able to raise donations and assist 96 students and alumni with more than one million dirhams.
“The University offers its students and new joiners numerous scholarships and special discounts. In addition to that, every year during the Holy Month of Ramadan, the office holds annual charity activities and gatherings with UD family, friends, graduates and partners from private and government institutions in order to support financially challenged students and graduates,” he said.
Dr. Al Bastaki also thanked all the donors who provided financial aid in the past years, pointing out that the University is keen to help struggling students and pay their dues so that they can obtain their degrees, graduate and get the jobs that they deserve. He also called on individual and corporate donors to continue supporting the University of Dubai’s financial aid program.
Director of the Internship and Career Development Center and the Alumni Relations Office Amina El Marzak, said that the donors included private and government organizations, institutions, companies, philanthropists, and graduates, in addition to partner charity societies and associations, including the Al Maktoum Foundation, Dubai Charity Association, Dar Al Ber Society, Beit Al Khair Society, and many others.
She pointed out that the office launched the University’s Alumni and Friends Scholarship Program in 2013 in cooperation with the Alumni Association Council and adopted a series of successful fundraising initiatives, with the aim of encouraging graduates and prospective students to do charitable work and urging them to continue helping students to complete their academic education.
“The Alumni Relations Office is preparing to hold the fifth annual charity suhoor on Ramadan 15th, corresponding to April 16, 2022, from 10:00pm until 1:00 am at the Habtoor Palace Hotel, Al Habtoor Hall. The invitation is open to all donors, whether individuals or institutions, to contribute with their donations to aid financially struggling, distinguished students,” she added.
