Overview
Dr. Rasool has joined us as an Associate Professor and the Director of the Master of Data Science (MSDS) program in the CEIT. Dr. Rasool Asal is an Associate Professor at the University of Dubai, UAE. He holds the position of Affiliate Visiting Professor at Surrey University, UK, and Milan University, Italy. Before joining the University of Dubai, he gained valuable experience working at several prestigious institutions in the UK and the UAE. With over 30 years of experience spanning both academia and industry, Dr. Rasool is well-versed in Information and Communications Technology, with a focus on Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and Software Engineering. He has a proven history of delivering purposeful research and innovation. Given his background in industry, he possesses a thorough understanding of technology transfer and commercial exploitation. Dr. Rasool Asal has track record of publications with more than 50 papers featured in prominent international conferences and journals. He has also successfully filed patents and authored book chapters. He has served on journal editorships and conference organizations including his contribution as Senior Guest Editor for the Special Issue on Cloud Computing Operation in the Journal of Mobile Multimedia, and program committee member flagship conferences, such as IEEE CLOUD and IEEE World Congress on Services (SERVICES). Dr. Rasool Asal has a proven track record in leading research projects and teams, including successful supervision of high-quality students. He excels in building productive stakeholder relationships and engaging with academia and industry, resulting in successful research funding acquisition. After obtaining his PhD from the University of Leicester, UK, Dr. Rasool moved on to the University of Southampton, UK, where he took on a lecturing role in the Electronic and Computer Science Department. Subsequently, he joined BT (British Telecommunications plc, UK) to lead a development program focused on advancing next-generation IT systems.
