University of Dubai Celebrates UAE Flag Day

The University of Dubai (UD) celebrated Flag Day by hoisting the UAE flag at the University building in Dubai Academic City, in the presence and participation of UD President Dr. Eesa Al Bastaki, members of the faculty and administrative staff as well as students.

After the flag was raised, the national anthem was played following Dr. Al Bastaki’s speech in which he affirmed that the occasion of the Flag Day commemorates the anniversary of the accession of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE to the Presidency. “We are proudly raising the national flag on this special day to reinforce the principles of dignity, determination, diligence, tolerance and sincerity through Flag Day celebrations among UD students and employees,” he added. He also said that this event highlights the solidity and unity of the UAE people who act as role models for future generations with their ongoing aspirations, accomplishments and goals.

“Respecting and raising the flag is a duty of every citizen living on the land of the UAE,” Dr. Al Bastaki stated after assuring that the University of Dubai’s family celebrates this occasion, believing that its academic and educational role is a part of its pride, sense of belonging and loyalty to our beloved nation. “The UAE flag marks the country’s harmony as it symbolizes  unity, prosperity, cleanliness and strength of mind,” he added.

At the end of the celebration, Dr. Hussain Al-Ahmad, Vice President for Academic Affairs, recited a poem in which he praised the secure, safe, happy and friendly environment in the UAE, and that it is the homeland of ambition, future, prosperity and tolerance.
